FAQs

Q?Can I get physical therapy without a physician’s prescription?
A.

Most insurance plans allow you direct access to a licensed physical therapist without a physician’s prescription in North Carolina.  This also means you have the choice of which licensed physical therapist you want to use.  For those patients with Medicare insurance, a physician’s prescription is required.  We will work with you and your provider to assist in obtaining any required authorizations.

Q?What to bring?
A.

For your first appointment, please bring your insurance card and your driver’s license or photo ID.  Also, if you were referred to us by a physician, please remember your prescription.  Patients using Medicare must have a physician prescription, otherwise Medicare will not cover your physical therapy expenses.  Commercial insurance users may not be required to have a physician’s prescription, please refer to your insurance plan benefits for requirements.  No one likes filling out paperwork at a doctor’s office, for your convenience we have linked the necessary paperwork to our website so that you can complete the documents in the comfort of your own home.  Please bring these completed documents to your first visit along with your driver’s license, insurance card, and physician’s prescription (if necessary).

Q?What should I wear for my appointment?
A.

Your clothes should allow us to evaluate your area of injury.  We recommend you bring comfortable, unrestrictive clothing or athletic wear to all of your appointments.  Foot wear should again be comfortable and closed toe, gym shoes are suggested.  For your convenience we have changing areas with lockers and locks.

Q?Will my doctor be kept updated on my treatment and progress?
A.

PhysioFocus Orthopedic and Sports Therapy LLC is completely digital and paperless.  Utilizing our advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and documentation system we keep your doctor up-to-date on your treatment plan and progress.

Q?What should I do if I am unable to keep my appointment?
A.

We ask that you please cancel your appointment 24 hours in advance as a courtesy to other patients.  In order to accommodate each patient’s schedule, reserving time slots is important in providing high quality focused care.  Canceling an appointment at the last minute or even the same day limits our ability to meet the needs of other patients.  Please be aware that you will be charged $25 for each no-show or cancellation with less than 24 hours notice.
